Prashant Kishor refuses to end the hunger strike after 5 days despite hospitalization.
Patna January 7, 2025: Jan Suraj Party curator Prashant Kishor remains steadfast in his hunger strike, even after being admitted to the Jayprabha Medanta Hospital in Patna due to deteriorating health.
Kishor, who began his hunger strike on January 2, is protesting against alleged irregularities in the 70th Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination.
Hospital’s concern over Prashant Kishor’s condition:
Dr. Ravi Shankar Singh, Medical Director of Jayprabha Medanta Hospital, shared updates on Kishor’s condition.
‘We are administering nutrition and medicines through IV. While his condition is stable for now, complications could arise. We’ve advised him repeatedly to consume food, but he remains adamant.”
Further tests have been conducted, and new medications are being introduced. Dr. Singh emphasized that Kishor’s current state does not allow discharge, and his stay in the ICU continues.
Support and concerns from Pawan Verma, former Rajya Sabha MP:
Verma expressed grave concern over Kishor’s health and his unyielding stance.
“Your campaign is aimed at bringing fundamental change in Bihar. This is a long fight that requires energy. Despite being in the ICU, Prashant Kishor refuses to break his fast. I appeal to him to prioritize his health for the sake of this movement.”
Verma also criticized Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for not engaging with the protesting candidates, calling it an example of administrative insensitivity.
YV Giri, Senior Advocate, Patna High Court:
Giri indicated that legal recourse might be the next step. “Some BPSC candidates have approached us. We are considering taking the issue to the High Court. I appeal to Prashant Kishor to end his fast as this fight is long and requires his active participation.”
Giri highlighted the importance of Kishor’s leadership in addressing the systemic issues in Bihar, urging him to regain his strength in the ongoing struggle.
Supporters and allies of Prashant Kishor are appealing to him to reconsider his stance. They argue that while his cause is noble, his health is vital for the larger movement aimed at reforming Bihar’s governance and examination systems.
