Patna April 11, 2025: Political strategist-turned-Jan Suraj Party’s architect Prashant Kishor launched a scathing attack on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, alleging that his administration intentionally disrupted the Jan Suraj Party’s “Bihar Badlao Rally” at Gandhi Maidan by creating traffic bottlenecks on key entry points to Patna.
Speaking at the rally, Kishor invoked his own role in Kumar’s 2015 election victory, saying, “The Pandit who performs marriages also performs the last rites. I saved Nitish Kumar’s political career in 2015. Now, I will bring it to an end.”
Prashant Kishor accused the state government of engineering traffic gridlocks at Mahatma Gandhi 4-lane Bridge and JP Setu, cutting off access from Vaishali and Saran districts, and claimed this was meant to sabotage the turnout in the rally.
The event saw repeated rescheduling, starting from an initial 2 PM slot that was later pushed to 3 PM, then 6 PM.
Despite earlier claims that lakhs would attend, the rally saw sparse attendance, with Kishor delaying his speech repeatedly until finally speaking for just eight minutes at 6 PM, promising to personally meet every attendee.
Prashant Kishor vows to dismantle Officer Raj:
In his address, Kishor doubled down on his commitment to ending what he called the “Officers’ Jungle Raj” under Nitish’s governance, comparing it to the earlier Lalu-era Jungle Raj.
He cited the government’s handling of the BPSC agitation and Friday’s rally as examples of systemic suppression.
From Rally to Ridicule: JDU, RJD and BJP take aim:
The low turnout at the rally quickly became political fodder for rivals.
JDU MLC Neeraj Kumar mocked Kishor as “Kambal wale Kishor,” stating: “As many people showed up as those who come for an evening walk in Gandhi Maidan. The hype has ended. It’s time he shuts the shutter of the political shop and goes to Tamil Nadu.”
RJD spokesperson Ejaz Ahmed said the event had exposed Kishor’s lack of grassroots connects, remarking:
“Empty chairs won’t win Bihar. People have shown him the mirror.”
Ahmed also accused Prashant Kishor of acting as a “B-team” of BJP, and contrasted his performance with growing support for Tejashwi Yadav, calling him the true face of Bihar’s changing political tide.
Despite the underwhelming turnout, Kishor maintained that his political battle had just begun, signaling clear intentions to gear up for the 2025 Bihar assembly Elections.
The leaders of the Jan Suraj Party however claimed a significant turnout at Gandhi Maidan during the rally.
