Prashant Kishor begins hunger strike over BPSC 70th exam controversy.

Patna January 2, 2025: In a severe cold atmosphere, prominent political strategist and Jan Suraj chief Prashant Kishor initiated an indefinite hunger at Gandhi Maidan, Patna on Thursday.
He is protesting against the alleged irregularities in the 70th Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) combined preliminary examination.
The protest began on Thursday evening under the Bapu statue, after a 48-hour ultimatum issued to the state government demanding action on the matter expired without resolution.
Key demands of Prashant Kishor:
Kishor, joined by hundreds of supporters, is calling for the cancellation of the examination and the organization of a fair re-examination to ensure justice for all candidates.
Speaking at the protest, Kishor stated, “We have demanded a fair re-examination of the 70th combined preliminary examination to ensure justice for all candidates. Hence, I sat on an indefinite hunger strike to support them.”
Prashant Kishor emphasized the broader implications of the movement, saying, “This movement is not only for the rights of the candidates but for the future of the youth of entire Bihar. It is important to raise a voice against the irregularities in the BPSC exam and the lack of transparency in the process.”
He also reiterated that his group is undeterred by legal action, “We are not afraid of FIRs. If the government had acted within 48 hours, this protest would not have been necessary. Now, we are forced to intensify the movement.”
Support from Students:
Many students joined Prashant Kishor at Gandhi Maidan, voicing their frustration and disappointment with the state government. They demanded immediate corrective action and highlighted the adverse effects of such irregularities on their career and future prospects.
The government’s inaction has created a wave of discontent among students and activists, who see this as a failure to uphold fairness and transparency in a crucial examination.
The BPSC is responsible for recruiting civil servants in Bihar, making its credibility vital for the trust of aspiring candidates.
