Patna, November 18, 2025: Jan Suraaj Party curator Prashant Kishor on Tuesday openly admitted that he and his party failed to win the trust of the people of Bihar in the recently concluded Assembly elections.
Addressing a press conference in Patna, Prashant Kishor said he had entered Bihar’s political landscape three years ago with the resolve to change the system, but that mission did not succeed.
“Our resolve lacked something, which is why we failed to win the public’s trust. Many congratulations to those who won. The JDU and BJP have been given a mandate, and they should focus on fulfilling their responsibilities,” Kishor said.
Responding to speculation about leaving Bihar, he clarified, “I apologize to all of you. Whatever shortcomings there are will be rectified. The idea that I will leave Bihar is a myth. I am not going anywhere. I will return with stronger zeal. This is the commitment of Jan Suraaj and Prashant Kishor. We did not indulge in Hindu-Muslim politics. We will continue working to improve Bihar, and until that happens, we will not leave Bihar.”
Prashant Kishor admitted that while he made sincere efforts, they were not enough.
“Forget changing the system, we couldn’t even bring a change in power. But we have certainly contributed to changing the political disclosure of Bihar. There must have been shortcomings in our efforts, our thinking, and our communication. If the public did not trust us, the responsibility lies entirely with me.”
Prashant Kishor alleged that the government had misused the state machinery for electoral benefits:
He also levelled serious allegations against the Bihar government, claiming that government resources were misused during the election.
“Jeevika Didis were deployed in the elections, and the entire government machinery was involved. Salaries of Anganwadi and Asha workers were increased just before polling. The NDA won the election by using government machinery,” he alleged.
On Migration in Bihar, Prashant Kishor reiterated his earlier stand, saying that if migration stops under any government, he would quit politics.
Prashant Kishor raised questions about high vote shares to smaller parties:
Kishor also raised questions over the unexpected high vote share to Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM).
“You can go to any constituency in Madhubani or any other district where his party was contested and ask people about his party symbol; very few would know. Yet his candidates secured more than 1.1 lakh votes. I am not directly accusing anyone, but people should think about this. I have walked across Bihar for three years, and still could not make people recognize my party’s symbol. How did a party get such a high number of votes despite the seat-sharing formula being announced just 15 days before the polling?” he said.
Congratulating the winners once again, Prashant Kishor said the NDA must now deliver on its promises.
On the Women’s Empowerment Scheme, he claimed that Rs 29,000 crore was distributed across Bihar and that around 1.5 crore women received money.
He said the government must now provide the promised Rs 2 lakh and release a helpline number 9121691216 for women seeking assistance.
On corruption allegations, Prashant Kishor clarified that he had never called Nitish Kumar corrupt.
“Nitish Kumar is doing fine. I had raised questions about the corrupt ministers, not about Nitish Kumar himself. The new government should ensure a corruption-free cabinet,” he said.
