Polling for the five Lok Sabha constituencies begins in Bihar. 10.18% voting registered till 9 am.

Patna May 13: The polling for the five Lok Sabha seats of the fourth phase in Bihar begins at 7 am on Monday. The voters can use their voting rights till 6 pm.

The election commission has registered a total of 10.18% polling till 9 am on Monday. Darbhanga has registered the highest polling of 11.61% followed by Samastipur where 11.11% polling has done so far. In Munger, the election commission has registered 10.26% polling, 9.31% in Ujiarpur and 8.85% polling in Begusarai district. 

The fate of 55 candidates including 4 females is at stake in the fourth phase held in Darbhanga, Begusarai, Munger, Ujiarpur and Samastipur and people are seeing in queues in large numbers. 14 candidates belong to national or regional parties and 20 belong to other small parties. A total of 21 candidates are trying their luck as independents.

The election commission has established 9447 polling stations in those 5 Lok Sabha constituencies. In a bid to ensure fair voting, the Election Commission is monitoring 4810 polling stations through webcasting.

Voters are turning out in the polling stations of Munger, Begusarai, Ujiarpur, Samastipur and Darbhanga Lok Sabha constituencies to use their voting rights.

The fate of two powerful ministers of Narendra Modi’s government will be sealed in EVMs on Monday. While Giriraj Singh is contesting from Begusarai, Nityanand Rai is contesting from Ujiarpur to score a hat-trick of victories. Apart from this, the son and daughter of two ministers of the Nitish Kumar government are facing against each other in Samastipur’s reserved seat.

The NDA candidate in Samastipur is Shambhavi Chaudhary. She is the daughter of Ashok Chaudhary, a minister in the Nitish government. Sunny Hazari is the son of Maheshwar Hazari, a minister of the Nitish Kumar government and is fighting on the ticket of Congress. The competition is considered to be very tough from both sides. A close contest can also be seen in Samastipur.

In Munger, Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh is contesting against RJD’s Anita Devi. In Darbhanga, BJP candidate Gopal Ji Thakur’s main contest is against RJD’s Lalit Yadav, while in Ujiarpur, Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai is contesting against Alok Mehta of RJD. Presently the NDA camp had won on all the seats. The challenge for NDA is to win all five seats.

Former CM Karpoori Thakur’s son and JDU Rajya Sabha MP Ramnath Thakur reached Karpoori village to use his voting rights. He reached polling booth number 64 located at Government Middle School in his native village and voted.

While interacting with the media persons in Karpoori Village, he said: “I have voted for development and peace of the country.”

Union Minister and BJP candidate of Begusarai Giriraj Singh worshiped at Jagdamba temple before casting his vote at the booth in Lakhisarai district.

Polling worker dies at booth number 210 in Munger, The election commission has appointed a second polling worker at that booth.

A total of 6 assembly constituencies in Samastipur reserved Lok Sabha constituency. Kusheshwarsthan, Hayaghat, Kalyanpur, Warisnagar, Samastipur and Rosera are assembly constituencies. The total number of voters of Samastipur Lok Sabha constituency is 1818530. The number of male voters is 955215 and the number of female voters is 863287, while the number of transgenders is 28.Ends.

Darbhanga Lok Sabha constituency comprises Gaurabauram, Benipur, Alinagar, Darbhanga Rural, Darbhanga City and Bahadurpur assembly constituencies. The total number of voters is 1781356, of which the number of males is 936591 and the number of females is 844731 and 35 transgender voters.

There are 6 assembly constituencies in Ujiarpur Lok Sabha constituency. Patepur, Morwa, Ujiarpur, Sarairanjan, Mohidinnagar and Vibhutipur are the assembly constituencies. The total number of voters in Ujiarpur Lok Sabha constituency is 1745408. In which the number of male voters is 919919, the number of female voters is 825469 and the number of transgenders is 20.
