PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate the new Patna airport terminal on May 29 to boost Bihar’s infrastructure and connectivity.

Patna, May 28, 2025: The Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport in Bihar’s capital is all set to get a stunning new look as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the new terminal building on May 29, 2025.
The long-awaited project will mark a significant leap in the state’s air travel infrastructure, aiming to provide world-class amenities to passengers.
A world-class terminal inspired by Bihar’s heritage waiting for PM Narendra Modi:
Spread over 65,155 square meters, the new terminal constructed at a cost of Rs. 1,400 crore is inspired by Madhubani art and Nalanda University’s architecture, with visual tributes to Chhath Puja, Buddha, Mahavira, and Patna Sahib Gurudwara.

The new terminal building has various features including 54 check-in counters, 5 aerobridges, 8 X-ray baggage scanners, 5 luggage conveyor belts, multi-level parking, a VIP lounge and a cafeteria.
The new terminal will boost the airport’s daily passenger handling capacity to 4,500, and annual capacity to 1 crore, up from the current 25 lakh.
The number of flights is expected to rise from 34 to 75 daily.
A 100-foot-high national flag and a special gallery dedicated to Jayaprakash Narayan have also been installed on the premises.
Bihta Airport foundation stone to be laid:
On the same day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also lay the foundation stone of a new airport at Bihta, located 35 km from Patna.
The Bihta facility will be spread across 116 acres and cover 68,000 sq. meters, with the capacity to handle 3,000 passengers per hour and 50 lakh passengers annually.

It is designed to accommodate larger aircraft, further enhancing Bihar’s air connectivity.
Other Key projects:
During this visit, PM Modi will also inaugurate or lay the foundation stones for several mega infrastructure projects, including Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Plant in Aurangabad, Patna-Gaya-Dobhi four0lane highway, grade improvement of NH-27 in Gopalganj, automatic rail signaling between Sasaram Anugrah Narayan Road stations, third railway line between Son Nagar and Muhammad Ganj having length of 65 km and hostel and staff quarters at JNV, Jehanabad.

After the inauguration, PM Narendra Modi will lead a roadshow from Patna Airport to the BJP State Headquarters via Dumra Choki, Hartali Mor, and the Income Tax roundabout. The hour-long event is expected to witness a large turnout of BJP supporters.
Later in the evening, the Prime Minister will interact with BJP workers, giving them, the “Guru Mantra” ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections.
Industry Minister Nitish Mishra said, “It is our great fortune that the Prime Minister is visiting Bihar. His presence is especially significant as it marks his first trip after Operation Sindoor. These projects reflect his unwavering commitment to the state’s progress.”
