New Delhi, March 7, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the foundation stone—laying ceremony of Kota Airport through a video message, calling the project a major milestone for the Hadoti region of Rajasthan.

He said the new airport will play a crucial role in boosting economic and industrial growth in the region.

Narendra Modi’s development momentum in Rajasthan:

During his address, the Prime Minister referred to his recent visit to Ajmer, where development projects worth thousands of crores were inaugurated, and appointment letters were distributed to more than 21,000 youth.

He said these back-to-back programs highlight the rapid pace of development in Rajasthan.

Airport to benefit four districts:

The new airport, being built at an estimated cost of around Rs 1,500 crore, is expected to benefit several districts in the Hadoti region, including Kota, Bundi district, Baran district, and Jhalawar district.

The Prime Minister recalled his visit to the region in November 2023 and expressed satisfaction that the promise made to the people regarding the airport is now being fulfilled.

He noted that residents currently travel to Jaipur or Jodhpur to catch flights, but the new airport will make travel easier and significantly boost trade in the region.

Kota’s identity in education and energy:

The Prime Minister described Kota as a unique hub for both education and energy production, generating electricity through nuclear, coal, gas, and hydro sources.

He also highlighted the global recognition of regional products such as Kota Doria saree, Kota stone, and agricultural produce like Bundi Basmati rice.

According to him, improved air connectivity will help expand markets for these products.

Modi also pointed to the tourism potential of the region, mentioning spiritual sites like Mathuradhish Ji Temple and Garadia Mahadev Temple, along with wildlife destinations such as Mukundara Hills National Park.

Enhanced air connectivity, he said, will attract tourists from across the country and abroad, benefiting local youth, traders, and businesses.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted ongoing infrastructure improvements in the region, including railway station modernization under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and connectivity through the Delhi—Mumbai Expressway.

He said the addition of air connectivity will further accelerate the development of Kota and the surrounding areas.

Narendra Modi praised Om Birla, Member of Parliament from Kota and Speaker of the Lok Sabha, for his dedication to the region’s development.

He also appreciated Birla’s role in maintaining discipline in Parliament.

Growth of India’s aviation sector:

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi noted that India’s aviation infrastructure has expanded significantly over the past decade, with the number of airports increasing from around 70 in 2014 to more than 160 today. He expressed confidence that the new airport in Kota will further boost development in the region.

Concluding his address, Modi emphasized that the “double-engine government” model and clear development vision are strengthening the foundation of development in Rajasthan and contributing to the broader national goal of a Viksit Bharat.
