New Delhi, March 6, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth around Rs 33,500 crore in Delhi on March 8 at around 12 noon.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also address a gathering during the program. Before attending the main event, the Prime Minister will visit the newly constructed General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) Type-5 quarters in Sarojini Nagar and hand over the keys to women beneficiaries.

Narendra Modi’s major Delhi Metro projects:

During the program, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for Delhi Metro projects worth approximately Rs 18,300 crore.

Two new metro corridors will be inaugurated: the Majlis Park—Maujapur Babarpur (Pink Line) corridor, covering around 12.3 km, and the Deepali Chowk—Majlis Park (Magenta Line) corridor, covering around 9.9 km.

These new corridors are expected to significantly improve connectivity across several areas, including Burari, Jagatpur—Wazirabad, Khajuri Khas, Bhajanpura, Yamuna Vihar, Madhuban Chowk, Haiderpur Badli Mor, Bhalaswa and Majlis Park.

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for three new corridors under Phase V-A of the Delhi Metro, covering approximately 16.10 km. The planned corridors include R.K. Ashram Marg—Indraprastha, Aerocity—Indira Gandhi Airport Terminal-1, and Tughlakabad—Kalindi Kunj.

Those routes will enhance connectivity between Noida, South Delhi and the airport, improving daily commuting for thousands of residents.

GPRA redevelopment projects:

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for projects worth Rs 15,200 crore under the General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) Redevelopment Plan.

These projects are spread across key locations such as Sarojini Nagar, Netaji Nagar, Kasturba Nagar, and Sriniwaspuri.

The redevelopment is part of the government’s plan to modernize housing colonies for central government employees and upgrade administrative infrastructure.

The projects are being implemented through an innovative self-sustainable financial model, where a limited portion of the land is developed for commercial and residential use.

Under the plan, more than 9,350 modern residential flats will be constructed for government employees. In addition, about 48 lakh square feet of office space will be developed to improve administrative efficiency and generate further revenue.
