Kanyakumari, May 31, 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday began a two-day meditation at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari, marking a reflective pause after the conclusion of the Lok Sabha election 2024 campaign.

The Vivekananda Rock, built in honour of Swami Vivekananda, stands at the southernmost tip of the Indian mainland, where the young monk—born Narendranath Dutta and affectionately called Naren by his spiritual Guru Ramkrishna Paramhansa—is believed to have meditated after his nationwide journey. It was here that Vivekanand envisioned the idea of a modern, awakened India.

Spiritual connection of Narendra Modi’s meditation:

Prime Minister Modi’s meditation is seen as symbolic, drawing a spiritual connection to the same site where Vivekananda meditated in 1892 before embarking on his historical journey to the World’s Parliament of Religions in Chicago.

On May 31, 1893, exactly 131 years ago, Vivekananda set sail from Bombay (Now Mumbai) aboard the SS Peninsular to deliver his iconic address that introduced India’s spiritual heritage to the world.

PM Modi, who has often cited Vivekananda as a source of inspiration, is undertaking this meditation after an extensive campaign tour across the country.

BJP’s vision of Vikshit Bharat:

A third term for Narendra Modi, as envisioned by the BJP, would aim toward the goal of Viksit Bharat (Developed India).

PM Modi’s stay at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial underscores a blend of political and spiritual symbolism—reflecting continuity between Vivekananda’s vision of a strong, enlightened India and the government’s call for national development rooted in cultural consciousness.
