Addressing the nation on the eve of Navratri, PM Narendra Modi said the next-generation GST reforms will take effect from September 22, marking the start of what he termed a GST saving festival.

Extending Navratri greetings, PM Narendra Modi said the new tax structure will benefit farmers, traders, entrepreneurs, the poor, middle class, women and youth, making essential goods and services more affordable.

“The poor and middle class are receiving a double bonanza. The reduced GST will make it easier for the country’s citizens to fulfil their dreams,” he said.

PM Narendra Modi highlighted two slab systems:

GST will now primarily have 5% and 18% slabs. The 99% daily items previously taxed at 12% have been moved to 5% category. It will reduce expenses on homes, hotels and travel.

PM Narendra Modi appealed to countrymen to buy domestic products:

The Prime Minister urged citizens to buy indigenous products, stressing the importance of supporting Make in India.

Many foreign goods have become part of our daily lives, and we need to get rid of them. Every home must embody Swadeshi and purchase products reflecting the hard work of our youth,” he said.
