Patna, September 11, 2025: Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday launched a scathing attack on RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, claiming that he wanted Bihar to remain backward, but Chief Minister Nitish Kumar destroyed his efforts and has put the state on the path of progress under the double-engine government.
Piyush Goyal inaugurated APIDA in Patna:
Piyush Goyal was in Patna to inaugurate the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) office, which he described as the beginning of a new era for Bihar’s farmers.
Under the sensitive leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, agriculture in the country has received a new direction.
With the opening of APEDA’s office in Bihar, products like mango, Shahi litchi, Makhana, rice, banana, and pulses will now gain global recognition. Agriculturally rich Bihar will become the backbone of a self-reliant and developed India,” Goyal said.
Highlighting the export potential, he added, “Today, Bihar’s makhana is being exported to New Zealand, the US, and Canada. I believe that in the coming days, it will reach more than 100 countries.”
Bihar’s startup boom:
Piyush Goyal also pointed out Bihar’s rise in the startup ecosystem. “In 2015, there was only one startup in Bihar. By 2025, the number will have grown to more than 4,000 startups. This is a matter of pride for us,” he said.
Piyush Goyal took a dig at the opposition:
Taking a swipe at the opposition, Piyush Goyal said that even if Congress officially declares Tejashwi Yadav as its CM candidate, it will not make any difference.
“No one can stand in front of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. NDA will once again form the government in Bihar. Now, there will never be a return of ‘Jungle Raj,’” he said.
Piyush Goyal also announced two major infrastructure projects for Bihar.
Mokama—Munger four-lane road and Bhagalpur—Dumka road.
A total of Rs 4,447 crore will be invested in these schemes.
Commenting on the ongoing unrest in Nepal, Piyush Goyal said the Government of India is keeping a close watch. “I personally spoke to our High Commissioner in Kathmandu. A helpline number has also been issued for Indians,” he said.
