Patna, May 25, 2024: The Siwan Lok Sabha seat is among the most high-profile constituencies in Bihar going to polls in the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections on Saturday.

Siwan became the hot seat due to Hina Shahab:

The seat has drawn attention as former MP Mohammad Shahabuddin’s wife, Hina Shahab, is contesting as an independent candidate. She faces Vijayalakshmi Kushwaha of the JD(U) and Awadh Bihari Chaudhary of the RJD.

Voters turned out in large numbers despite the heat, showing enthusiasm to elect their representative.

Tight three-tier security arrangements were made across all booths, with Central Police Forces deployed at sensitive locations.

Siwan constituency has over 18 lakh electors:

According to the Election Commission, 1,873 polling stations have been set up across the Siwan constituency, of which 1,015 have been declared sensitive. The area has been divided into 291 sectors, with 24 Rapid Action Force (RAF) teams deployed and 65 zonal magistrates appointed to ensure free and fair voting.

A total of 18,96,512 voters, including 9,87,808 men, 9,08,649 women, and 55 third-gender voters, are eligible to vote in this constituency. The constituency comprises six Assembly segments—Siwan, Jiradei, Darauli, Raghunathpur, Daraunda, and Barharia.

In the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, the Grand Alliance had won five of these six seats, while the BJP had secured Daraunda.
