Patna, May 3, 2024: Bhojpuri film star Pawan Singh on Friday strongly reacted to comments made by Union Minister and BJP leader RK Singh, asserting that he is a “Son of Bihar” and no one can stop him from contesting the Lok Sabha election from Karakat.

Pawan Singh says he was not born in Pakistan, he is the son of Bihar:

“There was no objection from anywhere in India about my competition from Karakat, but after watching RK Singh’s interview, it seemed as if I was born in Pakistan and have come here to fight elections,” Pawan Singh said in a video statement.

“I am a son of Bihar, and the people of Karakat have accepted me as one of their own. I will not say anything further—our people are intelligent, he added.

The sharp response came after RK Singh, BJP’s candidate from Arrah, suggested that Pawan Singh should withdraw from the Karakat contest. He has also remarked that several BJP leaders felt the party should expel Pawan Singh if he insisted on running independently.

“Upendra Kushwaha is the NDA candidate from Karakat. Whoever contests against him will be opposing the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” RK Singh had said earlier.

The contest in Karakat has now turned triangular, with Upendra Kushwaha of the Rashtriya Lok Morcha (NDA), Rajaram Singh of CPI-ML (Grand Alliance), and Pawan Singh running as an independent candidate.

The 7th phase election will be held on June 1:

Pawan Singh, a native of Bhojpur district, belongs to an upper-caste family and is expected to dent the NDA’s vote base. Earlier, the BJP had offered him a ticket from Asansol (West Bengal), which he declined, reportedly hoping for a seat in Arrah, Karakat, or Buxar.

The Karakat Lok Sabha constituency will vote in the seventh phase on June 1.
