Patna to host a regional conference of energy ministers on June 24 to boost power generation.

Patna, June 23, 2025: An important regional conference of energy ministers from eastern India will be held in Patna on Tuesday, June 24, at Hotel Taj, with a focus on strengthening the power sector and inter-state cooperation.

The conference will be chaired by Union Energy Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who is scheduled to arrive in Patna on Tuesday morning.

Energy ministers from Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, and the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Island will take part in the discussions. Bihar’s Energy Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav will represent the host state at the high-level meeting.

Rescheduled regional conference:

This regional conference, which was earlier scheduled for June 17, had been postponed due to administrative reasons. With the revised date now set, all preparations have been finalized.

A recent review meeting led by Energy Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh was held in Patna to ensure smooth execution of the event. Senior officials from NTPC, IEC, and Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited participated in the review, addressing aspects such as venue readiness, security arrangements, technical support, and protocol for receiving dignitaries.

Sustainable power generation could be the main agenda of this regional conference:

The regional conference is expected to focus on energy infrastructure, renewable energy expansion, inter-state electricity distribution, and power reforms, aiming to foster better coordination among eastern states and union territories for sustainable power development.
