Patna police arrested one person in connection with the attack on Patliputra MP Ram Kripal Yadav.
Patna June 2: Patna police arrested one person in connection with the attack on the convoy of BJP outgoing MP Ram Kripal Yadav on Sunday.
Ram Kripal Yadav was on his way to Masaudhi on Saturday evening around 7.30 pm when some people opened fire on his convoy at Gopalpur Math village.
The police said that two persons were injured in this attack. However, they were not sustained gunshot injuries.
The accused is identified as Vikas Yadav, a native of Gopalpur Math under Masaudhi police station in Patna district.
Bharat Soni, City SP confirms the development. He said that a SIT has been formed and efforts are on to nab the remaining accused.
Patna police lodged an FIR against 9 persons namely Akhilesh Yadav, Suraj Yadav, Bittu Yadav, Vikas Yadav, Gautam Yadav, Aditya Yadav, Satyendra Yadav, Sagar Yadav and Sonty Yadav. Besides them, 35 to 40 unknown persons were also booked in this case.
The City SP said that two persons sustained injuries in their skulls. However, it was not the gunshot injuries.
Meanwhile, Ram Kripal Yadav claimed that the accused who attacked his convoy belonged to RJD supporters.
“They attacked me, my sons and supporters of the BJP on Saturday evening. It was an act of RJD supporters. They did this out of fear of defeat. Our workers were attacked in Bikram, Danapur Paliganj and Dhanrua village during and after the polling on Saturday. I am afraid of how many more attacks will happen after winning the election,” Ram Kripal Yadav said.
He also alleged that four rounds of firing happened on his convoy at Gopalpur Math on Saturday.
