Patna Metro gears up for launch: Trial run from August 1, operations begin August 15.

Patna, July 26, 2025: The much-awaited Patna Metro is finally on track, with operations set to begin from August 15.

The trial run, scheduled from August 1 to August 7, will cover a 6.2 km stretch between Malahi Pakadi and New ISBT, marking the completion of the first phase of the state’s flagship urban transport project.

According to an official, the priority corridor includes five stations: Malahi Pakadi, Khemnichak, Bhoothnath, Zeromile, and New ISBT.

However, services in the initial phase will start at all stations except Khemnichak, where construction work is still ongoing.

Patna Metro infrastructure nearing completion:

The track laying work of the Patna Metro priority corridor has been successfully completed. Electrification work overhead the tracks are currently under ways and it will be completed in the next couple of days.

At Malahi Pakadi station, escalator installation is done, and finishing touches are being given to the ground floor, ticket counters, and entry gates. The stations are being equipped with modern amenities, including platform screen doors, automatic fare collection machines, auto-entry gates, and automatic staircases.

A three-coach train set has already arrived from Pune for the upcoming trial run. Work on crucial infrastructure at the metro depot—including washing and maintenance pits, control room, power sub-station, and workshop shed—has also been completed.

While most core infrastructure is in place, parking facilities are yet to be fully operational.

A large integrated parking facility is being developed at the Patna Metro depot.

Patna Metro Rail Corporation sends emotional message:

Despite the monsoon rains, construction work is progressing undeterred. The Patna Metro Rail Corporation (PMRC) shared a heartfelt message on social media, capturing the spirit of the project and its workforce.

“Every drop inspires a strong step forward…. Rain cannot stop the flight of our dreams. It is raining in Patna, but no one can stop us. Clouds are gathering and rain is pouring, our teams are steadfast and unstoppable… From the construction site to the station, our teams are putting in their best efforts. Because dreams do not succumb to the weather. And neither does us… Patna, your Metro is not just under construction—it is under commitment,” the PMRC post said.
