Patna, January 1, 2026: In view of New Year celebrations and the ongoing Saras Mela at Gandhi Maidan, the Patna district administration has been put on high alert.

Anticipating heavy footfall in the central parts of the city on the New Year, the traffic police have enforced strict traffic regulations, particularly in and around Gandhi Maidan and adjoining areas.

As part of the traffic management plan, the movement of auto-rickshaws and e-rickshaws will be completely prohibited on Thursday in the Gandhi Maidan zone and nearby localities to prevent congestion and ensure smooth movement of emergency vehicles.

Hospitals and medical teams are on high alert amid the New Year celebration:

The Health Department has also issued high-alert instructions to all major hospitals to handle any emergency situation during the New Year.

A total of nine special medical teams, including teams from PMCH, IGIMS, AIIMS, and Gardiner Road Hospital, have been deployed and will remain operational round the clock.

These medical teams will be stationed at crowded locations and trauma-sensitive routes to provide immediate medical assistance if required.

Traffic diversions and restrictions:

Auto-rickshaws and e-rickshaws are completely restricted in and around Gandhi Maidan.

Vehicles coming from Danapur via Rajapur Bridge will be diverted from the Police Line T-Junction.

Vehicles approaching from the Gaighat side on Ashok Rajpath will be turned back at Kargil Chowk.

Auto-rickshaws will not be allowed on Exhibition Road from Bhattacharya Chowk towards North Gandhi Maidan.

According to an official, vehicles parked on roads near Zoo gate No.1 and Rajvanshinagar Hanuman temple will be towed away by cranes.

“Towed vehicles will be shifted to the vacant ground of the Veterinary College. Roadside parking is strictly prohibited near Patna Junction, Hanuman Temple, and the roundabout,” he said.

Parking facilities have been arranged only on the unpaved flanks on both sides near Kumhrar Park.

Public advisory for the New Year:

The district administration has appealed to citizens to strictly follow traffic rules, use designated parking areas, and cooperate with police personnel.

People have also been advised to remain calm and immediately seek help from administrative or health services in case of emergencies, so that the New Year celebrations and Saras Mela can be conducted safely, peacefully, and in an orderly manner.
