Patna gets its 1st double-decker bus service to boost tourism.

Patna, September 2, 2025: Bihar’s capital witnessed a new addition to its tourism infrastructure on Tuesday as the state’s first double-decker bus service was flagged off.

The service was inaugurated by Tourism Minister Raju Singh on JP Ganga Path (Marine Drive).

The initiative has been launched by the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC) to showcase the historical, cultural, and religious heritage of Patna.

Route and fare of double-decker bus service:

The bus will operate between Digha Rotary and Kangan Ghat in Patna City, covering major sightseeing locations along the Ganga River.

The inauguration journey began at 12.30 pm from Digha Rotary.

The fare has been fixed at Rs 100 per passenger.

Currently, only one bus is operational, but officials said the fleet could expand if the service proves successful.

Features of the double-decker bus:

The double-decker bus has an open-roof seating offering panoramic views of the Ganga River, Ghats, mosque, temples, Golghar, and Harimandir Sahib Gurudwara.

The lower deck comprises comfortable seating and is fully air-conditioned. A tour guide will also be present on board to narrate the historical and cultural significance of each site.

The vehicle is equipped with GPS tracking, CCTV cameras, a live guided tour system, and an emergency alarm.

Speaking at the launch, Bihar Tourism Minister Raju Singh said, “ This service is not only a way to showcase the beauty of Patna, but an important step towards promoting tourism in Bihar. If successful, it will be expanded to other cities as well.”

The Tourism department revealed plans to launch similar services in Nalanda, Gaya, and Rajgir in the coming months.

An online booking facility and multilingual guiding system are also under development to attract more domestic and international tourists.
