Pappu Yadav filed the nomination for Purnea Lok Sabha seat.

Patna: Five time MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav filed the nomination as an independent candidate for Purnea Lok Sabha on Thursday.

Pappu Yadav along with his supporters walked till the office of district magistrate office in Purnea to file the nomination. He merged his party named Jan Adhikar Party (JAP) in Congress on March 20 with the hope to get a ticket of Purnea Lok Sabha seat. As this seat went to RJD after the seat sharing, he filed the nomination as an independent candidate.

The nomination of Pappu Yadav is a big jolt to grand alliance candidate Bima Bharti. She was expecting a one to one fight with the NDA candidate. Now, the triangular contest is expected in Purnea after the entry of Pappu Yadav.

“I don’t know what the problem Lalu Prasad Yadav has with me is. When I met him, I assured him that I will support his son. Still, he along with some Congress leaders cheated with me. I met with Lalu Prasad Yadav and then I went to Delhi. I merged my party on the call of Congress leaders. Why did they conspire against me to finish my political career,” Pappu Yadav, while addressing his supporters in Purnea’s town hall after the nomination on Thursday.

He also put a question mark on the secularism of Lalu Prasad Yadav.

“I know you (Lalu Prasad Yadav) have a problem with me but what is the problem with Kanhaiya Kumar and Nikhil Kumar, the former governor of Kerala. Why have you cut their tickets? Why have you snatched the ticket of Prabhunath Singh’s son. Mohammad Shahabuddin had dedicated his entire life to build RJD, why have you cut the ticket of his wife Hina Shahab. Will you fight communal forces like this,” Pappu Yadav asked.

“I have not merged my party in Congress for the election. I merged it to fight against communal forces. I have decided then that I will not leave Purnea till my last breath. I will not leave the ideology of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi till the end of my life,” he said.

“I am ready to give my contribution in the interest of the country. If Lalu Prasad Yadav needs me, I will go there. I am ready to do the campaign for my sisters Misa Bharti and Rohini Acharya. I will also go to Siwan in favour of Hina Shahab. I will not leave her at this juncture,” Yadav said.
