Patna January 3, 2025: In a show of solidarity with students protesting the alleged irregularities in the 70th BPSC combined preliminary examination, Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, the MP of Purnea, blocked the railway operation at Sachiwalay Halt Railway station in Patna on Friday.
As per the pre-scheduled plan for the Rail Chakka Jam, Pappu Yadav and his supporters reached the Sachiwalay Halt Railway station for the protest.
The action came as BPSC candidates have been on a hunger strike for the past 17 days, demanding the cancellation of the entire examination and a re-conduct to ensure fairness.
Pappu Yadav vows to take BPSC issue to Supreme Court:
Pappu Yadav has pledged to escalate the agitation against the alleged irregularities in the 70th BPSC combined preliminary examination by approaching the Supreme Court. Speaking during the ongoing protests, Yadav reiterated his demand for the cancellation of the entire examination and vowed to continue the fight until justice is delivered.
Yadav sharply criticized BPSC for its alleged misconduct, stating: “BPSC has done wrong and it has to cancel the entire examination. We will continue to protest on this matter. Our protest will continue in future till the Paper leak in Bihar and in the country is stopped.”
Drawing parallels with other long-standing movements, Yadav emphasized the resolve of the protest.
“When the Meena movement, Jatt movement, reservation movement, Mandal movement, Kamandal movement and farmer’s movement can take place for a long time, why should the BPSC examination protests not continue? This will persist until justice is delivered.”
Following the Rail Chakka Jam at Sachiwalay Halt, Yadav led a protest march from Sachiwalay Halt to the Income Tax roundabout in Patna. The march witnessed participation from students, activists, and supporters of the movement, signalling a growing momentum.
Pappu Yadav criticized the state government:
Pappu Yadav expressed strong anger at the government’s handling of the issue, saying. “If the government remains adamant and uses force on the future of lakhs of students, then in democratic values we have no option left except to face Lathi charge. This is a fight for the future of the students.”
Yadav further stated that preparations are being made to forcibly conduct the examination on January 4 in 22 centres, which he views as undermining the demands for transparency and fairness.
Support from Student Organizations:
Several student groups have declared their solidarity with Pappu Yadav and the protesting students in Gardanibagh, Patna. The organization plans to participate actively in the Rail and Road Chakka Jam across Bihar.
Yadav has also appealed to student unions to join the protest, emphasizing the collective responsibility to protect the future of the students.
In anticipation of the protest, the district administration has deployed a significant police force at Sachiwalay Halt Railway Station and other key locations to maintain order. Despite that Pappu Yadav and his supporters succeeded in disrupting the railway operation.
The ongoing agitation in Gardanibagh has seen two delegations of students meeting with Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena, with Pappu Yadav joining one of the delegations.
However, the issue remains unresolved, and preparations for the January 4 re-examination have further fuelled the unrest.
Pappu Yadav has hinted at escalating the movement if the demands are not met, saying. “If needed, we will also close Bihar.”
