Nitish Kumar will start the work of the dam and WTP.

Patna September 2: Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, will start the work for the dam and Water Treatment Plant (WTP) costing approximately Rs 1347.32 crore in Anicut village under Dehri block in Rohtas district on Monday.

This project aims to supply potable water to Dehri, Aurangabad and Sasaram city of the Rohtas district. The idea is to use the water of Son River and purify it through this WTP. It is an ambitious project of Nitish Kumar.

The project includes the construction of a water treatment plant with a capacity of 206 MLD and a reservoir. Water will be sourced from an intake well pump house located downstream of the 20th gate flow site, from where it will be transported to the water treatment plant.

In Dehri, water will be supplied to various tanks in locations such as ESI Hospital, New Sidhauli, Barah Pathar, PHED Dantolia, Chitragupta Maidan, BMP Campus, and Bastipur Bhaisahan Panchayat. This will ensure coverage across all city wards.

This facility also provides water to Maharana Pratap Chowk, Dani Bigha Bus Stand, Block Colony Campus, Rama Dam bus stand, Indoor stadium, Khel Maidan Club and other places in Aurangabad districts.

In Saaram, areas such as Shaheed Nishan Singh Library, Hathi Kund, Training College, Dharmashala Cattle Hospital SP Jain College, Qadir Ganj, Naya Ganj and other places of the city.

Alongside the water supply initiative, CM Nitish Kumar will also inspect public welfare schemes in Bastipur village and inaugurate a Health wellness centre in Sujanpur. Additionally, he will visit Bhawani Dham at Tutla to promote religious tourism.

The primary objective of this scheme is to provide a sustainable and reliable source of potable water using surface water, thus improving the quality of life for residents in the covered areas by ensuring access to clean and safe drinking water.

The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to infrastructure development and public health, ensuring that essential service reaches the entire population effectively.
