Nitish Kumar will inaugurate a 6-lane Bridge on the Ganga River to connect Patna to Vaishali.

Patna, June 23, 2025: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is all set to inaugurate the much-awaited Kacchi Dargah in Patna to Bidupur in Vaishali 6-lane bridge over the Ganga River on Monday.

This mega infrastructure project is being hailed as a transformative step for the Raghopur region, particularly benefiting the constituents of the Vaishali district, including Raghopur, represented by the leader of the opposition Tejashwi Yadav.

Nitish Kumar’s ambitious project:

The bridge, which connects North Bihar to South Bihar, has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 5000 crore and is expected to significantly reduce travel time and traffic congestion, especially on the heavily burdened Mahatma Gandhi Setu. It was one of the ambitious projects of Nitish Kumar in Bihar.

Work on the bridge began in 2016, and the people of Raghopur been eagerly awaiting its completion.

The bridge is expected to ensure year-round connectivity between the Diara region and Patna, which has long suffered from limited road access due to seasonal flooding and infrastructural gaps.

Announcing the inauguration on social media platform X Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said, “I am very happy to inform you that the connectivity of Patna to Raghopur via the Kacchi Dargah –Bidupur 6-lane Ganga Bridge will be inaugurated on Monday. This bridge will improve connectivity, boost agriculture, industry emergency healthcare access, and ease traffic pressure on existing infrastructure.”

He emphasized that the project had been a priority for the government, with continuous inspections and directives issued to expedite completion.

This Bridge will boost healthcare and agriculture:  

The bridge will boost the healthcare system as well as it would provide easier and faster transport during medical emergencies for residents of Raghopur and surrounding areas.

It will also help to decongest Mahatma Gandhi Setu, the current main link, which will see reduced pressure.

This landmark bridge is expected to reshape the socio-economic landscape of eastern Bihar by offering a crucial alternate route and by integrating underserved regions with the state capital.
