Patna, August 21, 2025: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is making a series of announcements aimed at different communities these days.

On Thursday, he turned his attention to the minority community by attending the centenary celebrations of the Bihar State Madrasa Education Board in Patna.

The grand event, held at Bapu Auditorium, marked 100 years of the Madrasa Board’s establishment.

Nitish Kumar claimed his government has done many welfare schemes for minorities:

Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Nitish Kumar said it was a matter of great pride for Bihar.

He underlined that significant welfare work for Muslims began only after the NDA government came to power in 2005.

Nitish Kumar highlighted initiatives launched under his government, including fencing of kabristans, financial aid for funeral expenses, and assistance to abandoned Muslim women.

“We started giving Rs. 24,000 to Muslim women deserted by their husbands. No one should abandon their wives, especially girls, as they face the worst hardships,” Kumar said.

He also listed other welfare measures such as increasing the old age pension from Rs. 400 to Rs. 1.100, providing 125 units of free electricity, and approving 430 new schemes.

Instructions for officials:

He added that he had instructed officials to address deficiencies observed during his Pragati Yatra.

During the event, Nitish Kumar received memoranda directly from attendees and assured them of quick action.

According to political observers, the centenary function was not merely an educational celebration but also a strategic outreach to consolidate support among minority voters.
