Patna, November 25, 2025: Following the NDA’s sweeping victory in the Bihar Assembly elections, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will chair his first cabinet meeting on Tuesday at 11 am in the Cabinet Hall of the Chief Secretariat.

The meeting, taking place five days after his swearing-in on November 20, is expected to finalize several major decisions, including convening a special session of the Assembly and outlining the roadmap for the NDA’s 25 election resolutions.

Unlike the previous occasion, when Nitish Kumar held cabinet meetings immediately after taking the oath, this time the meeting was delayed due to extended consultations between the BJP and JDU over portfolio distribution.

The Nitish Kumar government is expected to focus on 25 resolutions:

Ahead of the elections, the NDA had announced 25 key promises, with emphasis on employment generation, industrial growth, and special schemes for women and youth.

The implementation framework for these commitments is likely to top today’s agenda.

Given Nitish Kumar’s history of making swift policy decisions soon after assuming office, this meeting has drawn significant attention.

The most crucial item on today’s agenda is expected to be the decision on calling a special session of the Assembly.

Newly elected MLAs will be administered the oath during this session.

On Monday, Governor Arif Mohammad Khan appointed senior JDU MLA Narendra Narayan Yadav as the Pro-tem Speaker and administered the oath to him.

Yadav, an eight-time MLA from Alamnagar and former Deputy Speaker, will administer the oath to the new MLAs, preside over the election of the speaker, facilitate the formation of the House, including the formal announcement of the leader of the house (CM) and leader of the opposition.

Sources indicate that the BJP and JDU have reached an understanding regarding the speaker’s post.

Nitish Kumar’s cabinet has 27 ministers:

The new cabinet currently comprises 27 ministers, including the Chief Minister.

Among them, JDU has 9, BJP has 14, LJPRV has 2, HAM has 1, and RLM has 1 minister.

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha represent the BJP.

With the constitutional limit allowing up to 36 ministers in a 243-member Assembly, nine berths remain vacant and may be filled soon.
