Patna, October 21, 2025: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar formally kicked off his election campaign for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections with a public rally in Meenapur, Muzaffarpur district, on Tuesday.

Addressing a large gathering, the Chief Minister highlighted the achievements of his government and launched a sharp attack on the opposition, accusing them of neglecting governance and public welfare during their tenure.

Nitish Kumar targeted the opposition:

Nitish Kumar said that since his government came to power, the rule of law has been firmly established in Bihar.

“Earlier, people were afraid to leave their homes after dusk. Now there is peace and harmony. In the past, Hindu-Muslim tensions were common—such incidents no longer happen,” he said.

Nitish Kumar outlined his government’s development record, claiming that over 4 million people have been employed so far and that his administration aims to create 10 million more jobs in the next five years.

He listed key initiatives in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and employment, calling them historic changes that transformed Bihar.

Targeting the opposition, Nitish Kumar said, “Those who ruled before us did nothing for the people. There were no schools, no hospitals, no jobs. They only come to seek votes during elections. We have built roads to every village, strengthened healthcare facilities and provided opportunities for youth.”

The Chief Minister received continuous applause from the crowd, with supporters frequently chanting slogans in his favour—a clear indication, observers noted, of strong grassroots enthusiasm.

However, the rally also witnessed a brief moment of awkwardness when Nitish Kumar was stopped by a senior JDU leader while garlanding a female party candidate on stage.

The visibly displeased Chief Minister remarked, “He is an amazing man, he holds his hands,” before proceeding to garland the candidate himself.

Tejashwi Yadav raised a question about Nitish Kumar’s health:

The incident quickly drew attention on social media after RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav shared the video clip, questioning the Chief Minister’s health.

“If the Chief Minister is healthy, then why is he reading from a scripted speech and behaving in this manner?” Tejashwi wrote, reigniting political debate amid the heated campaign atmosphere.
