Patna, November 20, 2025: Nitish Kumar was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bihar on Thursday, marking his 10th term in office.
Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan administered the oath of office and secrecy at a grand ceremony held at Gandhi Maidan in Patna.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Patna Airport around 11 am and reached the venue by helicopter to attend the ceremony, significant as this is the first time PM Modi has been present at Nitish Kumar’s swearing-in.
Nitish Kumar took the oath at 11.30 am.
Nitish Kumar took oath as CM first time in 2000:
His political journey as Chief Minister began in 2000, when he was first sworn in, though that government lasted only seven days.
Since 2005, Kumar has taken the oath nine times consecutively, bringing the total to 10 today.
Notably, despite being sworn in five times during Narendra Modi’s tenure as Prime Minister, this is the first occasion when PM Modi has attended the ceremony.
Kumar has served three terms with the NDA and two with the Grand Alliance during this period.
Following Kumar, Samrat Choudhary took the oath as Deputy Chief Minister. The Tarapur MLA was administered the oath by the Governor.
After him, Vijay Kumar Sinha was sworn in, also as Deputy Chief Minister.
Several ministers were also administered the oath alongside Nitish Kumar, including Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Mangal Pandey, Dilip Jaiswal, Shravan Kumar, Vijendra Yadav, Lacey Singh, Nitin Naveen, Madan Sahani, Ram Kripal Yadav, Santosh Kumar Suman, Sunil Kumar, Jama Khan, Sanjay Tiger, Arun Shankar Prasad, Rama Nishad, Surendra Mehta, Narayan Prasad, and Ashok Choudhary.
The Prime Minister congratulated all ministers:

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, marking a major political moment as the new NDA government formally takes charge in Bihar.
