Nitish Kumar launches projects worth over Rs 540 crore during visit to Araria.

Patna, March 11, 2026: Nitish Kumar, Chief Minister of Bihar, visited Araria on Wednesday, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for multiple development projects as part of his outreach and review of government schemes.

During the visit, the Chief Minister inaugurated 60 projects worth Rs 157 crore, laid the foundation stone for six projects worth Rs 331 crore, and started construction work on two projects worth Rs 58 crore.

Nitish Kumar reviewed the development works:

Nitish Kumar also inaugurated and inspected the administrative building of a new police station in Araria.

He remotely inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for several other development schemes in the district and reviewed progress related to Pragati Yatra projects.

The Chief Minister also visited stalls displaying various government initiatives and interacted with officials and beneficiaries.

During the visit, he inaugurated the strengthening and renovation project of the Araria centre under the Kosi Milk Project in Purnea and interacted with local milk suppliers.

 He also inaugurated a GNM hostel and met students of Jananayak Karpuri Thakur Hostel in Araria, along with students from other welfare department hostels.

Nitish Kumar highlighted initiatives launched since 2006 to promote girl child education, including the bicycle scheme for students.

 He also noted that teacher recruitment has been strengthened through the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC).

Accordingly to the Chief Minister, Bihar currently has about 5.24 lakh government teachers, and recruitment of 45,000 additional teachers is underway.

Infrastructure and agriculture growth:

The Chief Minister said the state government has constructed roads and bridges on a large scale, significantly reducing travel time to Patna.

According to him, people can now reach the state capital from most districts within about five hours.

He also stated that fish production in Bihar has increased two and a half times, and agricultural development has been boosted through the fourth Agricultural Road Map.

Nitish Kumar highlighted the government’s flagship program, Saat Nischay Yojana, launched in 2015, followed by its second phase in 2020, with work now progressing under the third phase.

He also mentioned free electricity initiatives and several programs focused on women’s empowerment, which he said have provided significant relief and opportunities for people across the state.
