Nitish Kumar inaugurates Rs. 5,000 crore 6-lane Ganga Bridge, to boost connectivity from Patna to North Bihar.

Patna, June 23, 2025: In a landmark development for Bihar’s infrastructure, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday inaugurated the six-lane Kacchi Dargah—Bidupur  Ganga Bridge, providing a crucial new route between Patna and North Bihar via Vaishali.

The grand event took place at Sambalpur in Patna, attended by top political leaders and senior officials.

Nitish Kumar inaugurated the bridge in the presence of senior leaders of NDA:

Present on the occasion were Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Patna Sahib MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, Assembly Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav, Road Construction Minister Nitin Naveen, and several bureaucrats.

Constructed at a cost of Rs. 5,000 crore, the bridge is expected to dramatically improve connectivity between South and North Bihar, reducing pressure on the overburdened Mahatma Gandhi Setu and cutting travel time from Raghopur to Patna to just 5 minutes.

“We were continuously working on the Kacchi Dargah—Bidupur 6-lane Ganga Bridge. I personally monitored its progress, and I’m happy to announce its completion. This bridge will benefit the people of Raghopur Diara and surrounding areas with year-round road access to Patna,” said CM Nitish Kumar.

Bridge project started in 2016:

The bridge’s construction began in 2016, and its opening is being seen as a major boon for the flood-prone Raghopur constituency, represented by Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav.

This six-lane bridge will provide an alternate route to commuters as it will significantly ease congestion on Mahatma Gandhi Setu.

It would also reduce Raghopur—Patna travel time to 5 minutes.

This new six-lane bridge will provide healthcare access to the patients to reach major hospitals Like PMCH, AIIMS Patna, IGIMS, and NMCH.

It will also enhance growth in agriculture, industry, and trade in the region.

CM Nitish Kumar emphasized that this is part of his broader vision of building quality roads and bridges to transform Bihar’s connectivity and economy.
