Patna, April 3 2026: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday presented a significant cultural and historical gift to Vaishali with the grand inaugurated of the grand inauguration of the Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum-cum-Memorial Stupa.

Nitish Kumar performed rituals during the event:

Amid the chanting of Vedic mantras, the Chief Minister performed rituals and offered prayers within the museum complex.

He paid floral tribute to the statue of Lord Buddha and sought blessings at the sacred relic casket (Relic Stupa) preserved at the site.

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary was also present on the occasion. Both leaders toured the museum galleries, which showcase artifacts, sculptures, and exhibits depicting the life, teachings, and legacy of Lord Buddha, along with the historical importance of Vaishalli.

Construction at a cost exceeding Rs 550 crore, the museum is one of the most ambitious cultural projects of the state government. It blends modern technology with ancient architectural elements and is expected to position Bihar prominently on the global Buddhist tourism map.

During the event, the Chief Minister also inaugurated a grand gateway connecting the museum to the main Relic Stupa, ensuring seamless access for tourists and devotees.

Notably, although a partial inauguration of the museum had taken place in July last year, it has now been fully integrated and dedicated to the public.

The Chief Ministers’ visit—coming shortly after the conclusion of the Vaishalli Mahotsav—highlights his continued focus on promoting Bihar’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.

The project is expected to boost tourism, preserve heritage, and strengthen Bihar’s identity as a key centre of Buddhist history and philosophy.

Meanwhile, political circles remain abuzz with speculation surrounding the future of Nitish Kumar, with discussions intensifying over the possibility that his visit to Vaishalli could be among his final official engagements as Chief Minister.
