CM Nitish Kumar highlighted initiatives like Jeevika, which he credited with empowering women through self-help groups.
“The Jivika model has had widespread success in Bihar and it has been adopted by the central government in the name of Aajivika. Other states also adopted this model, to make people financially self-reliant. I was the one who gave the name Jeevika and now they recognize them as Jivika Didi,” Kumar said while interacting with the Jeevika Didis.
Kumar also noted the program’s rural origins and its growing implementation in urban areas.
He also inaugurated a Rs.29.95 crore rail overbridge at Kachhari railway gate, constructed by the Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Limited.
This project aims to improve transportation efficiency and reduce congestion, showcasing the state’s focus on infrastructure development.
NDA leaders criticized the opposition for not acknowledging the progress of Bihar under Nitish Kumar:
While highlighting the progress of Bihar, Renu Devi, the animal husbandry and fisheries minister criticized the opposition, comparing them to “night animals” who fail to recognize Bihar’s progress.
She emphasized that 173 roads are under construction in her constituency alone, asserting that Bihar’s road infrastructure now features two-lane, four-lane, and six-lane roads.
Contrasting the present with previous administrations, she remarked that earlier, “It was difficult to distinguish whether the road was in the pothole or the pothole was in the road.”
Sanjay Jaiswal, the MP from Bettiah noted significant development in Bettiah, crediting the transformation to collaborative efforts with Renu Devi and the initiatives launched during Nitish Kumar’s Pragati Yatra.
He described Bettiah as taking on a “new form” due to the visible improvements.
Nitish Kumar’s Pragati Yatra underscores the state government’s strategy to showcase tangible progress and counter opposition claims.
Projects like the Jivika initiative, reflect a targeted approach to enhance public welfare and economic growth.
The second day of Nitish Kumar’s Pragati Yatra showcased a mix of developmental milestones and strong political messaging. While inaugurating significant projects, the Bihar government emphasized its commitment to progress and economic empowerment.
