
Patna December 26, 2024: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited Sheohar district on Thursday as part of the first phase of his Pragati Yatra, inaugurating and laying the foundation stones for development projects worth Rs.187.42 crore.
The event kicked off at Mesaudha Panchayat in Piprahi block, where Nitish Kumar initiated several development schemes and engaged warmly with the enthusiastic Jeevika Didis, even taking selfies with them.

Nitish Kumar inaugurated the Panchayat Government Building in Mesaudha Panchayat, constructed on 10 Kattha of land, at a cost of Rs.1.30 crore. He inspected various projects, including Amrit Sarovar (water conservation initiative). Jeevika Didi self-help groups, Anganwadi Sevika Swachhata Mission, and rural road projects.
He laid the foundation stones for 230 schemes including a Paramedical College, a GNM College, and Road widening projects, such as the Meenapur to Sheohar Rajasthan Chowk road and a two-lane road from Dekuli Dham to Kushahar Chowk. The total value of these projects amounts to Rs.98 crore.
A total of 23 stalls representing various departments showcased government schemes and initiatives Highlights included.
He integrated the Poultry Development Scheme, Veterinary services, Dial-a-Bus service (1962), and Jal Jeevan Hariyali initiatives. Infrastructure projects by the Education Department, and welfare initiatives by the Social Welfare Department and others.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by key officials and leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Water Resources Minister Vijay Chaudhary, Rural Work Department Minister Ashok Chaudhary, Sheohar MLA Chetan Anand, Former MLA Mohd. Sarfuddin, City Council President Rajan Nandan Singh, and District Officer Vivek Ranjan Maitreya.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar launched his Pragati Yatra on December 23 from West Champaran’s Bagaha subdivision. The initiative aims to inspect ongoing government projects and engage with developmental activities across the state.
On day 1 of his Pragati yatra in West Champaran (Bagaha), he had the inauguration and foundation stone laying of projects worth Rs. 700 crore. One of the key initiatives included the electrification of 25 villages within the Valmiki Nagar Tiger Reserve (VTR) area, introducing underground cabling for the first time in the state.
This ground breaking step is expected to modernize the region’s power infrastructure.
On Day 2 in east Champaran, projects worth Rs. 201 crore were either inaugurated or initiated. The focus remained on infrastructure, electrification, and rural development projects aimed at improving the quality of life in the region.
