Nitish Kumar inaugurated 17 projects, including Laxman Jhula in Patna.

Patna, September 5, 2025:  Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 17 projects in Patna district.

The projects include 12 from the power sector and 4 from the tourism department, aimed at strengthening infrastructure and boosting public amenities.

One of the key highlights was the inauguration of Bihar’s first cable suspension bridge over the Punpun River, popularly known as the Laxman Jhula of Punpun.

Samrat Choudhary praised Nitish Kumar:

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, who accompanied Nitish Kumar, said, “Today, along with Bihar CM, I have attended the inauguration ceremony of Bihar’s first cable suspension bridge at Punpun River in Patna. Famous as Laxman Jhula, this bridge will prove helpful for pedestrians, small vehicles and devotees visiting the Pitru Paksha fair.”

Nitish Kumar also inaugurated the Jannayak Karpoori Thakur library at Dulhin Bazar and interacted with the beneficiaries of the social security pension.

“I met a large number of mothers and sisters who expressed gratitude for the government’s welfare schemes,” Kumar said.

During the event, a significant number of women gathered with posters, thanking CM Nitish Kumar for providing 125 units of free electricity and social security pensions, highlighting the government’s welfare outreach.

Power infrastructure boost:

Nitish Kumar initiated the construction work of 400, 220 and 132 KV GIS Grid sub-centre at Bakhtiyarpur with a connecting transmission line worth Rs 301.93 crore, 400 KV Buxar Thermal Power Plant—Naubatpur double circuit transmission line worth Rs 256.06 crore, 9 new electric power substations worth Rs 130.10 crore, expansion of transformer capacity in 18 power substations at the cost of Rs 22.99 crore, and 17 new 33 KV lines at the cost of Rs 80.12 crore.
