Patna, September 6, 2025: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday announced the candidature of former minister Santosh Kumar Nirala from the Rajpur assembly constituency in Buxar district, making it the first official NDA ticket declaration for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
The statement of Nitish Kumar came before the seat-sharing formula was finalized within the NDA.
Addressing a public gathering, Nitish Kumar urged voters to support Nirala.
“You people should make him win in the upcoming assembly elections. If you want, we will get elected in large numbers, to help us take Bihar forward,” Kumar.
Santosh Kumar Nirala, a senior JDU leader and former transport minister, faces a tough challenge in Rajpur.
In the 2020 Assembly elections, Nirala lost to Congress candidate Vishwanath Ram by a margin of 21,204 votes. Nirala secured 46,667 votes, while Vishwanath Ram polled 67,871 votes.
Nitish Kumar also targeted the Grand Alliance:
Kumar also took a dig at the Congress and RJD, accusing them of creating chaos during their rule and claiming that real development had only taken place under NDA governments.
Reminder of the Lalu-Rabri regime:
Nitish Kumar once again contrasted the present with the past governance.
“What was there in Bihar 20 years ago? Now, good work is happening everywhere. With the support of the Centre, Bihar will not remain behind and will once again be at the forefront in the country.”
