Patna, October 29, 2025: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday hit out at the RJD leadership, accusing them of promoting family politics and neglecting the people during their 15-year tenure.

Campaigning in his home district, Nalanda, for NDA candidates, Nitish Kumar urged voters not to return to the days before 2005, when he said Bihar suffered from poor law and order, communal tension, and collapsed infrastructure.

Nitish Kumar targeted the RJD:

Addressing multiple rallies—first at Rajgir’s Sarbahadi High School ground for JDU candidate Kaushal Kishore and later in Asthawan for JDU candidate Jitendra Kumar, the Chief Minister contrasted his government’s record with that of the RJD.

“Before 2005, people were afraid to leave their homes after dark. Education, health, and electricity were in terrible condition. Since our government came to power, we have served the people, not our family,” he said.

Nitish Kumar reminds voters that during RJD’s tenure, Lalu Prasad Yadav made his wife Chief Minister and brought his sons into politics.

“They only worked for their own family. We never did anything for our families; we worked for all,” he said, emphasizing that his administration established the rule of law in the state.

Highlighting his government’s welfare initiatives, Nitish Kumar spoke about measures to maintain communal harmony, saying, “In 2006, we fenced off graveyards to prevent disputes, and in 2016, we did the same for temples. Whether Hindu or Muslim, we have worked equally for all.”

Nitish Kumar highlighted the jobs given by his government:

He also showcased achievements in employment and women’s empowerment, claiming that the NDA government has fulfilled its 2020 promise of creating 10 lakh jobs and 10 lakh employment opportunities, while the state government has given more than 40 lakh employment opportunities to the youths of Bihar.

“Our target is to provide employment to 1 crore in the next 5 years,” he said.

Nitish Kumar further cited the reservation policies for women in Panchayats in 2006, 35% reservation for women in the police department in 2013, and 35% reservation for all women in the government jobs in 2025—saying Bihar now has the highest number of women police personnel in the country

He also highlighted the success of the Jeevika program, launched in 2006 with the World Bank’s support, which has grown to 1.4 crore members across the state. The state government has recently transferred  Rs 10,000 each to 1.21 crore Jeevika Didis for self-employment.
