Patna January 2, 2025: The political climate in Bihar has taken another turn following Lalu Prasad Yadav’s open offer to invite Chief Minister Nitish Kumar back into the Grand Alliance.
This move has reignited speculation about a potential realignment in the state’s politics, even as the BJP works to maintain its hold over the NDA.
Nitish Kumar’s Ambiguous Response:
During the swearing-in ceremony of Bihar’s new Governor, Kumar was notably silent when asked about Lalu’s overtures.
Instead, he smiled and folded his hands, leaving his intentions open to interpretation. His noncommittal gesture has added fuel to the speculation about whether he might consider returning to his former allies.
Union Minister Lallan Singh reacted to Lalu’s offer, saying “India is an independent country, and Lalu Prasad Yadav has the freedom to say anything. He can say whatever he wants, but we are in the NDA, and it is intact.”
Following the swearing-in ceremony, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha met with Kumar at his residence. While the details of the meeting remain undisclosed, it highlights the BJP’s proactive approach to managing its alliance dynamics amid external pressures.
Lalu Prasad Yadav openly offered Nitish Kumar:
When asked if his door was open for the Bihar Chief Minister, Lalu responded, “My door is always open, Nitish Kumar should also keep his door open.”
On whether he would forgive Kumar if he returned, Lalu stated, “Forgiving has been my job. I will forgive him without any problem. Everyone will work together.”
However, Tejashwi Yadav has firmly rejected the idea of aligning with Nitish Kumar. Tejashwi earlier said, “Our door is closed for Kumar forever. We do not need him.”
