Nitish Kumar cabinet approves 16 proposals, big relief on exam fees for youth.

Patna, August 19, 2025: The Bihar Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, on Tuesday approved 16 proposals of various departments with a strong focus on youth, education, employment, tourism, and agriculture.

The cabinet approved the reduction/exemption of application fees for all competitive examinations conducted by BPSC, BSSC, BTSC, BPSSC, CSBC and others.

This comes after CM Nitish Kumar’s Independence day announcement at Gandhi Maidan, where he promised to cut the examination fee to Rs 100 and waive the main examination fee.

The move is being seen as a big relief for lakhs of students and job aspirants across the state.

The Nitish Kumar government focused on employment and youth:

Reiterating his government’s employment roadmap, Nitish Kumar said, “The government is working towards the target of providing one crore jobs and employment opportunities in the next five years.”

Besides exam fee relief, the government is also focusing on setting up industries to create jobs, promoting self-employment, and expanding technical and vocational training facilities.

Boost to tourism infrastructure:

For tourist convenience, Nitish Kumar’s cabinet gave in-principle approval for the construction and operation of two five-star hotels in Rajgir (Nalanda) and a five-star resort in Vaishali.

These will be developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model in line with the Infrastructure Development Enabling Amendment Act 2023.

The other key decisions, including teachers’ award, under which the prize money for the State teacher award has been doubled from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 30,000 starting FY 2025-26.

The birth anniversary of freedom fighter and former minister Upendra Nath Verma will be celebrated every year on 23 August as a state function at his statue site near Digdhi Pons, GAYA.

Approval to spend Rs. 6 crore as a one-time grant under the National Agricultural Market DPR-Based scheme for 20 market premises in FY 2025-26.
