Nitish Kumar announces 125 units of free electricity for Bihar during PM Modi’s Motihari rally.

Patna, July 18, 2025: During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Motihari, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who was present at the program, announced that Bihar will now provide free electricity to all families, stating that the proposal would be approved in the cabinet later in the evening.
The mega rally, held at Gandhi Maidan in Motihari, East Champaran, witnessed a massive crowd as PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth over Rs. 7,217 crore.
Addressing the public meeting, CM Nitish Kumar said: “We respect you (Prime Minister) a lot. We have agreed with your vision and have decided to provide free electricity. We will approve this proposal in the cabinet today.”
CM Nitish Kumar highlighted the progress Bihar has made under the NDA government.
“No work was done during the previous government, and the situation was very bad. When both of us (BJP-JD(U)) formed the government together, we have been working continuously for the last 20 years,” Kumar said.
“Earlier, under the Lalu-Rabri government, the state’s budget was only Rs. 24,000 crore. We have increased the budget and are now spending over Rs. 3lakh crore. So much work is being done by the central government, and our Prime Minister is doing special work for Bihar,” Kumar said.
Nitish Kumar on employment:
Nitish Kumar claimed that 10 lakh government jobs have already been provided in Bihar, and the total number of jobs generated has increased to 29 lakh.

“Next time, it has been decided to provide jobs and employment to one crore youth in the next five years,” he said.
Nitish Kumar on free electricity:
Nitish Kumar emphasized the improvement in power supply in Bihar.
“Earlier, there was hardly any electricity, even in the Patna we used to get electricity for only 8 hours. Now, electricity is available everywhere in Bihar. We have now decided to provide 125 units of free electricity to all families. We have discussed this among ourselves and will pass it in the cabinet today.”
Pointing towards the Prime Minister, CM Nitish added: “We respect you o much and are working in everyone’s interest by listening to you.”
