New Delhi, March 13, 2026: Nitin Gadkari, the Road Transport and Highways Minister, recently launched the Rajmarg Pravesh Portal.

The process of obtaining permissions to develop facilities along India’s National Highways has become faster and more transparent with the launch of the upgraded Rajmarg Pravesh Portal.

The upgraded portal has been designed to streamline the process of obtaining No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for projects such as fuel stations, restaurants, dhabas, rest areas, residential properties, and connecting roads that require access to National Highways.

One-stop platform launched by Nitin Gadkari has several features:

Developed under the initiative of Nitin Gadkari, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), the portal brings multiple approvals onto a single digital platform, making it easier for businesses, organizations and citizens to apply for permissions online.

Through the portal, applicants can now submit requests for commercial outlets such as petrol pumps, restaurants, dhabas, and rest stops along National Highways.

Infrastructure access for industries, residential areas, and private landowners to connect their properties with nearby highways.

Wayside amenities, including rest centres and logistics hubs that improve travel convenience and freight movement.

Utility infrastructure, including water pipelines, gas pipelines, optical fibre cables, and electricity lines along or across highways.

Supporting India’s expanding highway network:

India’s National Highway network now spans over 1.46 lakh kilometers, playing a major role not only in connectivity but also in enabling new businesses and infrastructure development along major corridors.

The upgraded Rajmarg Pravesh Portal platform aims to simplify the approval process for such developments, helping entrepreneurs and infrastructure developers move from planning to execution more quickly.

Earlier, obtaining access permissions often required applicants to visit multiple government offices, deal with physical paperwork, and wait through long approval cycles.

The earlier process involved manual paperwork and physical file movement, limited visibility on application status, delays due to fragmented jurisdiction and authority identification.

The upgraded digital system introduces several improvements, including real-time application tracking available 24×7, time-bound responses from authorities, paperless submissions with secure digital payments, complete audit trails to improve transparency and accountability, and GIS-enabled auto-detection to identify the correct authority jurisdiction and reduce manual errors.

Boost to digital governance:

Nitin Gadkari says the enhanced portal will significantly reduce paperwork, speed up approvals, and lower operational costs for applicants. It is also expected to improve coordination between authorities and applicants through real-time monitoring and data-driven decision-making.

With the upgraded Rajmarg Pravesh Portal, the government aims to make the journey from business idea to project approval smoother and more efficient for those looking to develop infrastructure along India’s expanding highway network.
