Patna, December 5, 2025: Bihar politics is abuzz with speculation as Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s son Nishant Kumar appears closer than ever to entering active politics.
On Friday, JDU national Working President and Nitish Kumar’s close confidant, Sanjay Kumar Jha, made a significant remark that has intensified political chatter across the state.
For a long time, leaders within the JDU and the NDA coalition have been urging Nishant Kumar to step into public life.
Speculation was rife that the party might field him from any seat in the Nalanda district in the recent Assembly elections.
However, after the elections concluded, the JDU returned to power with a strong majority, and Nishant continued to remain away from active politics.
Amid an atmosphere of suspense, Sanjay Jha’s latest statement has added fuel to the political debate.
Sanjay Jha’s big indication for Nishant Kumar:
Speaking to the media at Patna airport, where he was present alongside Nishant, Jha said the party cadre and supporters overwhelmingly want Nishant Kumar to join the JDU formally.
He said, Party members, well-wishers, and supporters all want Nishant Kumar to join the party and work. We all want the same. Now the decision rests with him; he will decide when he wants to enter the party.”
His remarks are being seen as the clearest indication so far that Nishant Kumar’s political debut may not be far off.
Nishant Kumar’s own statement:
Nishant Kumar, while interacting with reporters, expressed gratitude toward the people of Bihar for the NDA and JDU’s sweeping mandate.
He said, “The victory was the blessings of the people. The public had once again shown immense faith in my father, Nitish Kumar.”
He further said, “My father fulfilled the promise he made earlier. This time too, he will definitely fulfill the promise of providing one crore jobs and employment. I have full faith in him.
Over the years, the JDU leadership has maintained that Nishant is welcome to join public life at any time, but the final decision lies entirely with him and his father.
With Sanjay Jha’s latest statement, the possibility of Nishant assuming a formal role within the party, perhaps even leadership responsibilities in the future, appears stronger than ever.
