Patna, July 20, 2025: On his birthday, Nishant Kumar, son of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, performed Rudrabhishek at Patna’s Mahavir Temple on Sunday during the auspicious month of Sawan.

Following the ritual, Nishant expressed his wish that Nitish Kumar be re-elected as Chief Minister in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.

“My father has been working in Bihar as Chief Minister for the last 20 years and has done many things for the state. Under his leadership, Bihar has progressed on the path of development, and I am sure the people of Bihar will once again bless him with their votes in the upcoming assembly election. My father recently announced 1 crore jobs, 125 units free electricity, 35% reservation for women of Bihar, jobs in education, health and Bihar police. So, these are the initiatives that have been taken in the welfare of citizens of Bihar,” Nishant said after the Rudrabhishek.

Posters outside JDU Office fuel speculation about Nishant Kumar’s entry:

Meanwhile, large hoardings featuring Nishant Kumar appeared outside the Bihar State JDU office in Patna, reigniting discussions about his possible entry into politics.

The posters, with a prominent image of Nishant, read: “Nishant, thank you very much for listening to Bihar’s demand.”

They describe him as the future need of Bihar and hint at his emergence as a potential leader of the party, fueling speculation that Nishant Kumar may contest the upcoming assembly elections.

Nishant Kumar, an engineering graduate, has so far kept a low-profile lifestyle and has distanced himself from active politics, consistently denying plans to join. However, his public endorsement of his father’s re-election and the fresh posters has once again stirred discussions about his possible entry into active politics ahead of the 2025 elections.

Possible candidature from Harnaut:

Party insiders suggest that if Nishant Kumar decides to contest, he could be fielded from Harnaut in Nalanda, a seat once held by Nitish Kumar, or another constituency in the same district.

The JDU has not issued any official statement regarding Nishant Kumar’s entry into politics, although several senior leaders within the party have expressed support for him to continue Nitish Kumar’s political legacy.

As Bihar heads towards elections, the emergence of Nishant Kumar’s posters on his birthday has added a new dimension to the state’s political landscape and sparked interest within JDU circles about the future direction of the party.
