Neeraj Kumar criticized RJD MLC Urmila Thakur for comparing Lalu Yadav with Lord Shiva.

Patna, July 2, 2025: A major political controversy erupted in Bihar after RJD MLC Urmila Thakur compared party supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav with Lord Shiva and other Hindu deities during an event in Muzaffarpur on Tuesday evening.
Neeraj Kumar said her statement is inappropriate:
JDU MLC Neeraj Kumar strongly condemned the remarks, calling the comparison “absolutely inappropriate.”
Neeraj Kumar stated: “Lord Shiva is known for the welfare of the world, while Lalu Yadav created havoc in Bihar. He made wealth in Shiva’s name, and due to corruption, brought his entire family under the clutches of the law. Shiva removes sorrow, but Lalu could only remove his own sorrow or had to undergo a kidney transplant.”
Thakur described Lalu Yadav as: “A living God on this earth who gave voice and respect to the poor… In Kaliyug, one is Lord Shiva and the other is Babu Lalu Prasad.”

She further compared Lalu Prasad to Lord Krishna, Lord Ram, and Bhishma Pitamah, claiming that just as no one can replace these figures, no one can replace Lalu Prasad Yadav.
Urmila Thakur described Lalu Yadav as a “protector of the poor” like Lord Shiva.
Shiva’s harmony is symbolized by a buffalo and tiger coexisting, linking it to Lalu’s role in uniting the poor and deprived.
“My father was a barber, and Babu Lalu Prasad brought someone like me to the Bihar Legislative Council,” she said.
Political Reactions:
Opposition parties termed Urmila Thakur’s remarks as a dangerous combination of faith and politics. RJD has not yet issued an official statement on her comments.
Analysts believe this emotional and religious statement, made in an election environment, aims to influence voters but may lead to controversies.
Urmila Thakur originally from Begusarai, has been associated with RJD for a long time.
Entered politics through Zila Parishad elections in 2000 and now serves as an MLC representing RJD in the Legislative Council.
