Patna November 23, 2024: The NDA has secured a significant victory in Bihar, winning all four seats— Belaganj, Imamganj, Ramgarh, and Tarari— in the by-elections on Friday.
The Election Commission declared the results, solidifying the NDA’s position in the state. BJP contested in Ramgarh and Tarari assembly constituencies and won both seats.

In Ramgarh, a tight race unfolds, with BJP candidate Ashok Kumar Singh winning the seat by 1362 votes after all 12 rounds of counting. Singh has secured 62257 votes, while BSP candidate Satish Yadav is closely trailing with 57656 votes. RJD candidate Ajit Singh is further behind, trailing by 33848 votes.
In Tarari: BJP candidate Vishal Prashant has won the contest over CPI-ML candidate Raju Yadav. Win 12 rounds in total, the BJP appears to be victorious here.
Vishal Prashant secured 78755 votes, defeating CPI-ML candidate Raju Yadav by 10612 votes. Yadav garnered 68143 votes. Jan Suraj Party candidate Kiran Devi obtained only 5622 votes.
Besides these two, JD(U) contested on Belaganj and HAMS contested on Imamganj (SC) seat.
In Belaganj: JD(U) candidate Manorma Devi is maintaining a lead of 21391 votes over RJD’s Vishwanath Amjed securing 17285 votes.
Deepa Kumari Manjhi, daughter-in-law of Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) chief Jitan Ram Manjhi, also secured the victory in a tightly contested race. She secured 53435 votes after 15 rounds of voting, RJD’s Raushan Kumar, who garnered 47490 votes, won the contest by 5945 votes. The Jan Suraj Party candidate, Jitendra Paswan, finished third with 37103 votes.
NDA leader and BJP state president expressed satisfaction:
Following the thumping victory of NDA, Dilip Jaiswa;l, the BJP state president, expressed immense satisfaction, calling the victory a “matter of great happiness.”
“This was the first election held under my leadership as state president and the outcome reflects strong public support. The NDA is on track to form the government in 2025,’ Jaiswal said.
Jaiswal described the by-election results as a “preview’ of Bihar’s political future. He credited the victory to the unity within the NDA and the leadership of Nitish Kumar and Narendra Modi, stating, “ The people of Magadh and Shahabad regions have embraced the NDA as the key to peace and harmony in the state.”
He reiterated that the unity of the NDA is its strength and that the coalition worked together effectively to secure this win. Jaiswal noted that earlier criticisms of NDA being rejected in Shahabad were now invalidated by the by-election results.

Dilip Jaiswal expressed confidence that the NDA will contest and win the 2025 assembly elections unitedly, continuing its governance in Bihar. He also extended congratulations to the winning candidates, acknowledging their efforts.

While acknowledging challenges in Jharkhand, Dilip Jaiswal highlighted that the NDA remains competitive and anticipates winning 32 to 35 seats in the state.
He also projected a strong performance in Maharashtra, claiming the alliance would form a government with a two-thirds majority in the economically significant state.
Political Implications of the Bihar Assembly by-poll:
The by-election results are a moral boost for the National Democratic Alliance in Bihar and may set the tone for upcoming electoral battles, including the 2025 Bihar assembly elections.
The focus on unity within the NDA and the leadership of Nitish Kumar and Narendra Modi appears to be the central theme of their strategy moving forward.
