Patna, June 4, 2024: The trends of the Lok Sabha elections so far indicate a clear edge for the NDA at the national level.
However, the BJP’s performance remains significantly lower compared to its sweeping victory in the 2019 elections.
A nail-biting contest is underway between the NDA and the INDIA bloc:
A nail-biting finish is unfolding across the country, with close contests between the NDA and the INDIA bloc in several constituencies.
According to the Election Commission, the BJP is leading on 237 seats and has won 2, while the Congress is leading on 99 seats. The Samajwadi Party is ahead in 38 seats, TMC in 31, DMK in 21, TDP in 16, JDU in 15, Shiv Sena (UBT) in 11, NCP in 8, LJPRV in 5, Shiv Sena (Shinde group) in 5, CPI-M in 4, RJD in 3, AAP in 3, and CPI-ML in 2 seats.
Bihar trends:
In Bihar, the NDA is maintaining a strong lead on 34 of the 40 seats, while the Grand Alliance is ahead on only 6.
The Nitish Kumar-led JDU is delivering an impressive performance, leading on 15 seats out of the 16 it contested. The BJP, which contested 17 seats, is leading on 13. The LJPRV contested 5 seats and is leading on all 5.
On the opposition side, the RJD contested 23 seats but is leading on only 3, CPI-ML contested 3 seats and is ahead on 2, while Congress, which contested 9 seats, is leading on just one. HAMS contested one seat and is leading in that seat.
Seat-wise highlights:
Arrah—Sudama Parasd of CPI-ML is leading by 30,703 votes against Union Minister R.K. Singh of the BJP.
Karakat—The high-profile seat, known for Bhojpuri star Pawan Singh’s candidature, has taken a surprising turn. Pawan Singh has slipped to the third position. Rajaram Kushwaha is leading by 36,671 votes, while Upendra Kushwaha (NDA) is in second place.
Gaya (SC Reserved)—HAM chief Jitan Ram Manjhi is leading by 82,007 votes against RJD’s Kumar Sarvjeet.
Purnea—JDU’s Santosh Kushwaha is ahead by 4,453 votes over independent candidate Pappu Yadav. Bima Bharti (RJD) is trailing in the third position.
Buxar—BJP’s Mithilesh Tiwari holds a narrow lead of 1,153 votes over RJD’s Sudhakar Singh.
