Patna, July 20, 2025: In a significant step to improve regional connectivity in Bihar, the Airport Authority of India (AAI) announced the redevelopment of Munger Airport under the UDAN scheme, aiming to enhance air connectivity for Munger and adjoining districts, including Lakhisarai, Jamui and Khagaria.

In a post on social media, the AAI stated that the redeveloped Munger Airport will facilitate regional aerial travel, boost employment opportunities, and promote tourism in the region, known for its Jungle Safari and rich wildlife.

“Munger Airport will become a symbol of Bihar’s new flight,” the AAI remarked, emphasizing that the airport will give a new dimension to Munger’s industrial, agricultural, yoga and cultural sectors.

Munger Airport is a part of a broader regional connectivity push:

Munger Airport is one of six small airports being revived in Bihar under the Centre’s UDAN scheme, alongside Madhubani, Saharsa, Birpur (Supaul), Valmikinagar (West Champaran), and Muzaffarpur.

Boost to Seemanchal, Mithilanchal, Tirhut and Ang regions:

The revival of these airports will enhance transportation in backward regions of Seemanchal, Mithilanchal, Tirhut and Ang, accelerating economic, social, and tourism development in these areas.

Bihar Chief Secretary Amritlal Meena expressed pride over the initiative.

“It is a matter of great pride for the state that we are reviving six small airports simultaneously. This will provide cheap and accessible air service to local citizens while strengthening the state’s connectivity with other parts of the country,” Meena said.
