More than 90 persons lost their lives in heat waves in the last three days in Bihar.
Patna May 31: The scorching heat in Bihar has claimed the lives of more than 90 persons in different districts in the last three days. The officials however confirmed the deaths of 27 people due to the heat strokes. In the majority of the cases, postmortem reports of the deceased have not come yet. Many family members have refused to conduct post-mortems of the deceased.
The maximum casualties were being appeared in Aurangabad where 19 have lost their lives. The death of 12 people has been officially confirmed. On Thursday, the maximum temperature of Aurangabad was reached 48.2 degrees Celsius.
Around 200 people have fallen sick due to heat stroke in Aurangabad on Thursday. Medical officer of Sadar Hospital Abhishek Kumar said that about 200 patients came on Thursday. All were also treated. Due to the high number of patients, there was chaos in the hospital.
According to an official of the health department, more than 300 people have become victims of heat stroke so far and admitted to various hospitals in several districts of Bihar and undergoing treatments. The department has also advised people to avoid stepping out of their houses if they do not have very important work.
“Eight people have died due to heat wave in Arwal, Buxar, Rohtas and Begusarai districts. The cause of death could not be ascertained immediately as most of the bereaved family members refused to get the post-mortem done. At present, we cannot comment on this. Some post-mortem reports are awaited,” said an official of Disaster Management Department Patna.
On Friday morning, two people died due to heat stroke at Nadoul railway station located on Patna-Gaya railway section. Both the passengers had come to board the train. The bodies have not been identified yet. The railway station in charge has confirmed the death.
A sector officer died in Patna’s PMCH during treatment. The name of the deceased is Dukhharan Prasad, who is said to be the agriculture coordinator of Patna’s outskirt village Dhanarua. He was fainted in Dhanarua and was admitted to PMCH on Friday.
Heatwave is also being felt in Arrah city of Bhojpur district. So far, 9 people including five polling personnel have died here. The DM has confirmed the death of three people. Besides, heat also took the life of a state committee member of CPI-ML.
8 persons have died due to heatstroke in Rohtas. The death of 6 people due to heatwave has been officially confirmed. 8 persons have also died in Jehanabad. A soldier who came to do election duty in the district has also died during treatment.
The death toll is also increasing in Kaimur district. So far, 6 people have died here. A teacher is also reported to have died due to heatstroke. The teacher had left home for election duty while returning home, his health deteriorated and while being taken to the hospital, he succumbed.
3 persons died due to heat stroke in Gaya within the last two days. 50-year-old Manoj Ram, a resident of Dihura village of Alipur police station area of Tikari block, died of a heat stroke on Thursday. 80-year-old Raghunandan Yadav, a resident of Manjhala village of Dharahara Kala Panchayat of Fatehpur block, died of heat stroke on Wednesday. 68-year-old Satendra Singh, a resident of Anti village of Konch police station area, had gone to Aurangabad for some work, he was returning from Rafiganj to Anti village by auto and suddenly fainted. The villagers admitted him to a private clinic, where doctors declared him dead.
On Friday, the body of a police personnel from Siwan and two unidentified people was found dead in Nalanda. Among them, the body of a 70-year-old woman was found in the general bogie of the Shramik train at Rajgir station in Nalanda district.
Three people died due to heat stroke in Buxar and three in Chapra on Friday.
Two persons have died in Sheikhpura and two in Munger on Friday.
Deaths were also reported in Gopalganj, Jamui, Lakhisarai, and East Champaran districts as well.
