Patna, November 22, 2025: A day after the allocation of portfolios in Bihar to Nitish Kumar’s newly formed government, several ministers took charge of their respective departments on Saturday.
Ashok Choudhary, among the first of Nitish’s government ministers, to assume office:
Among the first to take charge was Nitish Kumar’s close aide Ashok Choudhary, who was assigned to the Rural Work Department.
Choudhary said that ensuring the timely completion of the road construction projects would be his top priority.

Commenting on the decision to hand over the home department to Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, he said the Chief Minister made the decision fully and expressed confidence that Samrat, being young and energetic, would handle law and order effectively.
Deepak Prakash assumes office amid dynastic politics row:
Deepak Prakash, son of RLM chief and Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha, also assumed charge of his office after being appointed the Panchayati Raj Minister.
His induction has fueled criticism, as he is neither an MLA nor an MLC, yet has been sworn in as a cabinet minister under the RLM quota.
Before taking charge, Prakash got into an argument with reporters in Patna when questioned about dynastic politics.
He had earlier dodged similar questions, saying journalists should pose such queries to his father, Upendra Kushwaha.
Speaking after assuming office, Prakash said that the Panchayati Raj system is central to India’s democratic structure, and he is honoured to serve as its minister in Bihar.
He added that he would work to strengthen grassroots democracy and ensure effective implementation of Panchayati Raj institutions.
