Patna, August 19, 2024: The Met Department of Bihar has predicted heavy rainfall and potential lightning strikes in 11 districts of Bihar in the next three days.
People, particularly those in rural areas, have been advised to avoid working in the agricultural field during rain due to the chances of lightning striking in the region.
The met department has also issued an orange alert in Gopalganj and West Champaran districts, which means heavy rain is expected there. Additionally, a yellow alert, which is indicative of moderate to heavy rain, has been issued in the other nine districts.
The officials of the met department have alerted the people of Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Madhubani, East Champaran, West Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Kaimur, Rohtas, Sitamarhi and Sheohar districts to remain vigilant.
In the last 24 hours, the met department has recorded a maximum of 71.6 mm of rain in Biharsharif, and the Roh block of Nawada district received 61 MM. The people of Patna, Lakhisarai and Begusarai also witnessed moderate to heavy rain in the last 24 hours.
Amid the current situation, the water levels of the Gandak River in Dumaria Ghat, Gopalganj, Burhi Gandak in Khagaria, Baghmati River in Runni Saidpur and Benibad in Muzaffarpur, Kosi River at Batara in Khagaria district are above the danger level.

The water level of the Ganga River is flowing above the danger level in Patna. At Gandhi Gaht, the water level is 48.72 meters at present, while the danger level is 48.60 meters.
Similarly, at Hathidah, the water level is 42.11 at present, while the danger level is 41.72 meters.
