Met department predicted heavy rain in 11 districts of Bihar.

Patna, August 19: The Met Department of Bihar has predicted heavy rain fall and potential lightning strike in 11 districts of Bihar in the next three days.

People, particularly those in rural areas, have been advised to avoid working in the agricultural field during rain as the chances of lightning may strike in the region.

The met department has also issued orange alert in Gopalganj and West Champaran districts which means heavy rain is expected there. Additionally, a yellow alert, which is an indicative of moderate to heavy rain have been issued in other nine districts.

The officials of the met department have alerted the people of Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Madhubani, East Champaran, West Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Kaimur, Rohtas, Sitamarhi and Sheohar districts to remain vigilant.

In the last 24 hours, the met department has recorded a maximum of 71.6 MM rain in Biharsharif, and Roh block of Nawada district receiving 61 MM. The people of Patna, Lakhisarai and Begusarai also witnessed moderate to heavy rain in the last 24 hours.

Amid the current situation, the water levels of Gandak River in Dumaria Ghat Gopalganj, Burhi Gandak in Khagaria, Baghmati River in Runni Saidpur and Benibad in Muzaffarpur, Kosi River at Batara in Khagaria district are above the danger level.

The water level of Ganga River is flowing above the danger level in Patna. At Gandhi Gaht, the water level is 48.72 meter at present while the danger level is 48.60 meters.

Similarly at Hathidah, the water level is 42.11 at present while the danger level is 41.72 meters.
