
Patna: A male tiger was found dead in Valmikinagar Tiger Reserve (VTR) in Bettiah division, an official said on Monday.
The incident came to light when a team of VTR patrolling in the region and the officials found a dead tiger in Manguraha forest area on Sunday.
“When we were patrolling at Maguraga forest area in Bettiah division and found male dead tiger near Thori Barbal 1village. We have immediately informed the incident to senior officers of VTR,” said an official spokesperson of VTR
The senior officers including Dr Neshamani K, the director cum conservator of forest (Wild life) of VTR, Divisional forest officer (Wild Life) cum deputy director Pradyuman Gaurav and other officials reached the spot and inspected the surroundings.
Under the standard operating procedures of the national tiger protection authority, we have rescued the dead tiger and conducted the postmortem in presence of officers on Monday,” said Dr Neshamani K.
“Preliminary investigation reveals the death of the tiger happened during the fight with another male tiger,” Dr Neshamani K said.
