Mahabodhi Guest House with 5-star facilities inaugurated by CM Nitish Kumar in Bodh Gaya.
Patna April 30, 2025: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Wednesday inaugurated the Mahabodhi Guest House, a world-class government facility located in Bodh Gaya, Gaya district.
The newly constructed guest house is equipped with 5-star amenities, including a gym, spa, swimming pool, restaurant, and various other high-end services, making it one of the most luxurious public accommodations in the state.
Mahabodhi Guest House has 110 rooms:
Gaya District Magistrate Tyagrajan SM described the facility as a significant addition to the hospitality infrastructure of Bihar.
“The Mahabodhi Guest House is located within walking distance of the world heritage site Mahabodhi Temple. It features 110 rooms, including Presidential Suites, VVIP and Deluxe Rooms, and will serve national and international tourists, as well as VVIP guests. The guest house will be managed by ITC, known for its high standards of hospitality,” said Tyagarajan.
This is Bihar’s second world-class guest house, following the first one established in Valmikinagar, West Champaran.
Bodh Gaya is a globally significant Buddhist pilgrimage destination, attracting visitors throughout the year, especially during events like the Kaal Chakra Puja.
Gaya also hosts the annual Pitripaksha Mela and is close to Rajgir, another tourist and sports hub.
The city has been increasing tourism and sports activity recently. Notably, during an international women’s hockey championship, players from six countries were accommodated in Gaya.
The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of several top leaders, including Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Union MSME Minister and local MP Jitan Ram Manjhi, and other dignitaries.
Nitish Kumar also inaugurated a sports complex:
In addition to the Mahabodhi Guest House, CM Nitish Kumar also inaugurated a series of new sports and cultural facilities in Gaya including the Major Dhyan Chand Sports Complex, swimming pool and open-air theater.
These facilities have been developed within the Rural Development Institute, aiming to promote sports and recreational infrastructure in the region.
