The announcement was made on Tuesday following the formal scrutiny and withdrawal process for nominations.
Ramchandra Purve announced Lalu Prasad Yadav’s re-election:
Election Officer Dr. Ramchandra Purve officially declared Lalu Prasad Yadav elected unopposed to the top post, as no other nominations were filed. The deadline for withdrawal was set for 3:00 pm on Tuesday, and with no withdrawals or competing candidates, Lalu’s re-election was confirmed.
“Lalu Prasad Yadav has been elected the National President of RJD for the 13th time. The party’s state units are currently active in 27 states, and the election was held in a democratic and transparent manner in accordance with the RJD constitution,” Dr. Purve stated.
Lalu Prasad Yadav filed his nomination for the post on Monday, June 23, and the formal scrutiny of papers took place at 2:00 pm on Tuesday. The election outcome was widely expected to be unopposed.
Lalu Samman Diwas will be organized on July 5:
The official election certificate will be handed over to him during the National Council meeting of RJD, scheduled for July 5, 2025, at Bapu Auditorium in Patna. Following the presentation of the certificate, an open session of the party will be convened under Lalu’s leadership.
This marks a continuation of Lalu’s unchallenged reign over the RJD, a party he founded in 1997, and underscores the continued dominance of the Yadav family within the party’s structure.
